Congratulations on completing Module I of the iPEC Coach Training Program! This is a significant milestone in your journey as a coach, and we are thrilled to partner with you throughout your training. If you’re experiencing some excitement and maybe some overwhelm at the same time, know that’s completely natural as you get underway. Rest assured, you are right where you are supposed to be.
Here’s the breakdown for you to navigate the next part of your journey:
1. Assignments
In your "Post Module I Resources and Assignments" course, you will find several assignments. The Gremlin Project is the only assignment with a due date—you’ll bring it with you to Mod II. The rest of the assignments are self-paced, although designed to build your knowledge base steadily week by week as you’re completing assignments between Mods. Mastery comes through intentionally practicing and integrating your learning each step of the way.
2. Webinars
A series of weekly webinars is part of your post-Mod I curriculum. These may begin a few weeks after your class, with a mix of live and pre-recorded sessions. Check the Weekly Webinar Lesson in the "Post Module I Resources and Assignments" course for your schedule and instructions on registering for live webinars.
Recordings of live sessions will be available the day after they occur if you are unable to attend live. We do encourage you to attend live wherever possible to interact and engage with the Trainers, ask questions and learn alongside other coaches going through training with you. Each week brings a new webinar, so stay engaged with the schedule.
3. Peer Coaching
Approximately three weeks after your Mod I class, you’ll receive assignments for a peer coach, peer client, and peer group. This is an exciting opportunity to practice and receive coaching while building strong connections with your peers.
- Your Role as a Coach and Client: You will coach your peer client for 12 sessions, ideally meeting once per week and you will be coached by a different peer, your coach for 12 sessions, again ideally once per week.
- Peer Groups: You’ll meet with your peer group for 12 sessions, on a schedule your group decides ideally every other week as it’s designed to have you meet with your group across the length of your training program to continue to integrate your learning from the beginning to the end of your program.
- Looking Ahead: Post-Mod II, you’ll receive a new peer coach and client assignment for another 12 sessions each, although your peer group will remain the same throughout the program.
For detailed guidance, refer to the Peer Coaching Lessons in the Hub.
4. Mentor Coaching
Within three weeks post-Mod I, you’ll be assigned a Mentor Coach, and you will coach them on their real-life topic so you can receive real-time feedback on your coaching. These six sessions are mandatory for your certification. Specific requirements must be met before scheduling, so check the Mentor Coaching Lesson in the Hub for details.
5. Coaching Interviews
Coaching interviews, also known as “discovery calls,” are a key component of the iPEC Coach Training Program and an effective way to introduce prospective clients to the coaching experience. These complimentary sessions allow clients to explore what coaching is and how it could benefit them while helping you refine your skills in a real-world setting. See this article for more information. You may begin these whenever you feel comfortable.
6. Final Exam
Your final exam is a 20–30-minute coaching session. You will learn about that after Mod II, however, know that your coursework is laid out intentionally, so you are well prepared to pass your final exam when the time comes. All that’s required of you right now is to practice, practice, practice what you are learning, keep up with your coursework, and integrate the feedback that is given to you along the way.
Additional criteria to submit for the final exam are as follows:
- At least 30 days have passed following Mod III.
- All mandatory assignments including your six mentor sessions are completed.
- Your tuition is paid in full.
Once all requirements are met, you will gain access to a lesson in the Hub that explains how to complete the exam. Those coaches who submit their final exam as soon as they are eligible to do so tend to have a higher passing rate of success than those who wait months to complete.
Trust the process. There is plenty of time, and everything you need to prepare will be covered throughout the program. For now, just be aware of these requirements so you can plan your timeline for course completion.
Final Words of Encouragement
You are embarking on a life-changing journey, and there’s no rush to “catch up,” because you are not behind. Should you experience any unwanted catabolic emotions like overwhelm, resistance, frustration, etc., we recommend that you lean on your peers and revisit your “why.” This experience may have highs and lows, only you get to decide what it means for you. What we can predict is that your personal transformation and coaching skills development will be noteworthy!
Are you ready, coach? You’ve got this!
