Step 1: Getting Started

Schedule your first Mentor session now to follow your second session of you coaching your peer client.

Before you attend your first Mentor Coaching session, you will:

  1. Watch either webinar: "Creating the Coaching Agreement" or "Starting the Coaching Relationship, Part 1." This will prepare you to structure your Peer Coaching Sessions and every session you lead as a professional coach! The Coaching Agreement is used by professional coaches at all levels.
  2. Conduct two Peer Coaching sessions: Practicing as a coach for your peer client.

Both requirements must be completed before having your first Mentor session.

Step 2: Connecting With Your Mentor Coach

You’ll receive a welcome email from your Mentor Coach about three weeks after Module I which includes a calendar booking link to schedule your sessions. Again, schedule promptly to follow your second “coaching a peer client” session, as Mentor Coach calendars fill quickly.

Scheduling Guidelines:

  • Sessions must be scheduled no sooner than four weeks (28 days) apart.
  • You can only book one session at a time.
  • Mentor sessions are during normal business hours, so plan accordingly.

 Step 3: Log Your Sessions

When you complete your Mentor Session, log it in the designated Mentor Coaching survey within your Hub as these six sessions are required for certification.

Tips for Successful Scheduling

  1. Schedule Now: Book your first mentor session to immediately follow the first two sessions where you are coaching your peer.
  2. Plan Ahead: After each session, book the next session immediately at a minimum of four-week, 28 day intervals.
  3. Design: The mentor sessions are designed to take place after four coaching-a-peer sessions. (Coach a peer four times, have one mentor session and receive feedback, coach your peer four more times, followed by one mentor session with feedback, repeat the process over the 6-7 month coach training program to get the most out of your development.)
  4. Ask for what you need: If you’re having trouble finding mentor availability, contact your Mentor Coach directly. They may offer flexibility not visible on their calendar.
  5. Be Flexible: For your weekday 30-minute sessions, consider early mornings, lunch breaks, or other convenient times to fit into your schedule.

What If You Need to Cancel?

If you must cancel or reschedule a session, notify your Mentor Coach 24-48 hours prior. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours will be assessed a $50 no-show/cancellation fee. Missed or late cancellations will incur the fee.
