Understanding Mentor Coaching Hours for ICF Credentialing and Renewal

Mentor Coaching is a critical component of the ICF credentialing process, ensuring candidates receive feedback and guidance on their coaching skills. Whether you're pursuing your ACC, PCC, or MCC credential, understanding the specific requirements for Mentor Coaching is essential.

ALWAYS REFER TO THE ICF WEBSITE FOR THE MOST CURRENT INFORMATION ON CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS.

1. Mentor Coaching Hours for ACC and PCC Credentials

As an iPEC graduate, you’ve already completed Mentor Coaching as part of your Coach Training Program, which is accredited as a Level 2 program by the ICF. This means you meet the Mentor Coaching requirement for the ACC and PCC application once you are eligible and have fulfilled all ICF requirements needed to apply.

2. Mentor Coaching for MCC Credentialing

For coaches pursuing the MCC credential, additional Mentor Coaching hours are required, even if you completed Mentor Coaching as part of a Level 2 program like iPEC. The specific requirements include:

  • New Hours Required: 10 additional Mentor Coaching hours with an MCC credentialed coach.
  • Session Structure:
    • At least three hours must be one-on-one mentoring.
    • The remaining seven hours may be one-on-one or group mentoring.
  • Timeline: These hours must also be completed over a period of at least three months.
  • Eligible Mentor Coaches:
    • The Mentor Coach must hold a valid MCC credential.

3. Mentor Coaching for Credential Renewal

If you’re renewing your ACC credential, you must complete 10 new hours of Mentor Coaching beyond the hours used for your original credential or its renewal. These hours must follow the same requirements:

  • At least three hours one-on-one, with the rest as one-on-one or group mentoring.
  • Completed over a minimum three-month period.
  • Conducted by a Mentor Coach holding a valid ICF credential.

Why iPEC Sets You Up for Success

As an iPEC graduate, your Mentor Coaching hours are seamlessly integrated into your training. For ACC or PCC credentials, you’ve already fulfilled this requirement. For MCC credentialing or renewals, you’ll be well-prepared to seek additional hours with an experienced MCC credentialed coach.
